The iconic, bright green, ring necked parakeet captured in my favourite time of day, golden hour.

The UK's only naturalised parrot and the most northerly breeding parrot in the world. ring-necked parakeets are originally from Africa and southern Asia and were kept as pets in the UK. They escaped*, and are now easy to spot (and hear) in most areas in and around London.

*There is also another more exciting story that Jimi Hendrix is responsible for their presence…
